“Does anyone in the Tenby or Saundersfoot area know of the whereabouts of a Donald Griffiths?” asks Mrs. Marlene Bradshaw (née Thomas).
“Donald lodged with my family in the late 1940s - he had been in a Children’s Home and at the age of 16 had to leave the Home. He knew my father, Ivor Thomas, who was then the Beach Superintendent in Tenby and my parents took him in. Donald stayed with us for some years, firstly in a flat above the HSBC (formerly Midland Bank) in Tudor Square, then in The Glebe. He later came to see us when we lived in Pendine. During that time Donald went into the RAF to do his National Service and regularly came to us for his leave. He had two brothers (one was Malcolm who later lived in Saundersfoot, but I do not know the other brother).
“In 1955 my family moved to Lancashire and somewhere along the way we lost touch with Donald. The reason I would like to trace him is that I found some photographs of his time in the RAF (they were in a box my late mother’s house). I would dearly like to return these to him. It is such a long time ago and perhaps he may not be still alive, I myself in my late 70s and he was a little older than me but if any of your readers know his whereabouts please let me know on my e-mail, ( contact [email protected] ). I will be delighted to return these to him and hopefully catch up on some family news.”
Hopefully this rings bells for one or more of our readers. We wish you a successful search, Marlene.
