Thank you to Ray Lowe for bringing in this painting of the old Council School by the sister-in-law of former headmaster Mr. Ossie Morgan, Miss J. M. Dickinson, of Ruabon House. The viewpoint is from where Acorn Heights is today; where the doctors’ surgery used to be.

Large partitions opened to let in the sun. The sun’s rays would protect children from the threat of rickets - but opening the partitions was not too popular with staff as children in lessons are naturally distracted by the sunny outdoors. Although the partitions have long since gone, the central entrance is much the same.

The painting was presented to Tenby Junior School in 1977 by the family of the late Mr. Ossie Morgan.
