Already familiar to followers of the popular Facebook group Tenby Through Time, ‘Encyclopedia Man’ Lance Russell says he found this little beauty while trawling through his late mother’s gigantic photo library.

“Culver Park won the the best decorated street when the country celebrated the Queen’s Coronation and, guess what? Yes, it won it again in 1977 when we (and probably she) celebrated her Silver Jubilee. The photograph was taken on the day the commemorative plaque was presented to the street. Now I know some of you will be saying, ‘hang on, some of those didn’t live in Culver Park.’ But it was a joyous occasion for all those that contributed to making the street so colourful.”

Children pictured include Lance and his brother Jared, Nadia Cummins, Lee Wilshaw, Karl and Derek Boggis, Helen Lavender, Peter Sterlini, Helen Brace. Adults include traffic warden Len and Audrey Davis, Margaret James, Cassie Roberts, Luisa Sterlini.

Other names cropping up in the comments section include Tom James, Donald and Murial Griffiths, Alice Pike, Maria Thomas and her sister, Rita Rees, Fiona Lort - the list goes on.

Isn’t social media a wonderful thing for local history and community memories? But please remember to keep putting old pictures our way too so the Tenby Times can continue to be enjoyed by locals, ex-Tenbyites and social historians of all origins.

Thank you, Lance, for bringing in the photo.
