The autumnal sunshine welcomed the depleted Tenby side to Aberystwyth for the penultimate match of their Dyfed League season.

Tenby were looking for an away win, but with four players missing from the team, it was going to be a tall order.

The first pairing were Jack Guerriro and Martin Morris, who, after a promising start, found themselves three up with four to play, when Aber hit back with three birdies on the trot. All-square on the last, Jack and Martin were unable to make a par and lost, 1 down.

Next out were Richard Morton and David Schooling. This match was a reverse of the previous one, with Tenby four down with five to play, but came back to halve the game.

Third pairing of Steve Amos and new member Johnny Broomhead lost 4 and 3.

The fourth pairing of Dave Roberts and Ron Johns, who are partners on finals day, won 1 up, with Ron wondering when he will get to play in a home game.

Next out were Peter Rossi and Don Sigsworth, who won 2 and 1. Gareth Rees and Idwal David were the sixth pairing and lost 3 and 2. Last out as the seventh pairing were Chris Beecher and Steve Lewis, who won 3 and 2.

A big thank you to all the players who made themselves available and travelled to Aberystwyth, especially Chris Beecher who travelled from Cardiff. The final result was Tenby 3.5 Aber 5.5, which was an excellent result, only having seven pairs available.

The last game of the season is tomorrow (Saturday) away to Glyn Abbey, tee-off 1 pm.
