A highlight of the tennis calendar is Wimbledon and Tenby Tennis Club was delighted to be able to take a group up to watch some fantastic tennis at this famous venue once again.
The children were excited despite the very early start and the anticipation in the minibus grew with every passing mile. We arrived in time to take our seats in Court 2 and watch Simona Halep beat Francesca Schiavone which was followed by an amazing match between Bernard Tomic and Radu Albot - the power and determination from both players was wonderful to witness at close hand. An epic match between Agnieszka Radwanska and Ana Konjuh rounded off our day and we left full of ideas on how to improve our own games!
Some of the children managed to get several autographs of players at the practice courts and we all agreed that it was a truly wonderful day and every one of our party were thrilled to have been able to watch such terrific tennis in such a magnificent setting.
“It’s so exciting watching such brilliant tennis at close quarters,” said Yan Morris, Tenby Tennis Club’s head coach, “and the children were extremely well behaved and a credit to the club. It was a long day, but a very good one!”
