About 40 youths have been stopped and a considerable amount of alcohol seized in Tenby during the last month. The town's neighbourhood policing team have joined forces with the efforts between Pembroke Dock and Pembroke neighbourhood policing teams to tackle the problem of underage drinking. The teams have prevented many youths from boarding trains at Pembroke and Pembroke Dock and large quantities of alcohol have been confiscated. PC Trish Dixon said: "We have also increased foot patrols throughout the town and outlying villages and beach areas. "We have searched many youths and they have been found in possession of large quantities of alcohol. "We have seized their alcohol and contacted their parents. We are asking parents to be more vigilant about their children's whereabouts and to check where they are and what they are doing, especially on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings." Police are also warning people that they are taking a zero tolerance approach to anyone supplying young people with alcohol. The issue was again highlighted as a priority for the Tenby neighbourhood policing team at their recent forum, along with speed reduction and traffic calming measures. The next forum meeting is being held on September 5 at Augustus Place from 7-9 pm. Everyone is welcome to attend. Anyone who can't attend, but would like to raise issues with the team, can contact them on 0845 330 2000 or by email at tenbynpt@dyfed- powys.pnn.police.uk
