One of Tenby’s popular seafront hotels has been hit by the news that the company that runs the facility has gone into administration.
The Imperial Hotel located along the Paragon which enjoys spectacular views of the South Beach and looking out to Caldey Island was part of the Specialist Leisure Group company’s ‘Coast and Country Hotels’ sector.
All hotel breaks as well as tours, cruises and holidays booked with the Specialist Leisure Group have now been cancelled and will not be rescheduled after the company entered into administration on Friday (May 22).
The Specialist Leisure Group operated several businesses that sold holidays and other travel arrangements which have all ceased to trade, due to the impact of COVID-19.
All hotels trading as Coast and Country Hotels, Bay Hotels and Country Living Hotels across the UK will not reopen the company has stated.
Ernst and Young - the administrator to the Specialist Leisure Group has confirmed that 2,500 people have been made redundant in the group, with all employees of companies being contacted separately by the administrators.
The administrators have stated that they will be contacting all known creditors of the Group in due course.
Anyone that was a supplier to the Specialist Leisure Group, who might require further details in relation to the administration, have been asked to please direct enquiries by email to: [email protected]
The clerk to Tenby town council Andrew Davies commented: “The Imperial Hotel has a long and rich history in Tenby, where it stands in such a prominent position, and hopefully someone will come along to ensure that its closure does not last too long.”
“We feel for all those whose jobs and livelihoods are affected by this turn of events,” he added.
