Carten100 made a donation of £1,000 to Tenby Sea Cadets after their sterling efforts on ride day to look after the riders luggage when it arrived ahead of them in Tenby harbour.

There were over 1,200 pieces of luggage delivered by SofaSofa and to get the lorry away and clear of the harbour access, the cadets moved all of the bags into their drill hall behind the sailing club, carried them up two sets of stairs and sorted them into numerical order ready for collection.

Riders were able to collect their bags from the entrance and at the end of the event only six bags were left, by riders still on their way.

Peter Palmer from CARTEN100 said: “We were struggling in 2016 to get the luggage lorry away as the driver was limited by his tachograph and it was suggested to us that the Sea Cadets may be able to help. They were absolutely superb and the cadets were more than enthusiastic, with riders glad their luggage was being so well looked after. We will definitely be asking for their help again in 2018. We were very happy to make them a donation as they thoroughly deserved it.”

At the cheque presentation, Commander Officer Roy Broxham took the CARTEN100 committee members present on a tour of the unit and its facilities and showed where some of the donation may be spent.
