Sir,
We (Sea Cadet management committee) had a meeting last week, and all agreed what a grand job the Tenby Observer is doing in reporting the unit's various activities this summer; thank you!
There is just one point, however. In the report of the sighting of the Royalist in the copy of July 12, it was said that 'The skipper was keen to point out that children can join the Sea Cadets at 13-and-a-half (girls and boys)'.
This should have read that cadets can sail aboard the Royalist from this age. The ages at which boys and girls can join Sea Cadets are 10-years-old for juniors and 12-years-old for seniors, and there are plenty of activities and outings in which they can participate before they are old enough for the Royalist.
We should be very grateful if you could find room to print this correction, as we should hate any 10, 11, 12 or 13-year-old to be deterred from joining our thriving and exciting unit, which meets at the harbour HQ on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Trisha Putwain,
Hon. secretary,
Tenby Sea Cadets
