Cardiff Grangetown Salvation Army Band, led our services and open air meetings on Sunday, and it was a day of blessings and challenges which began in the morning service (writes Marie Moreton).
The theme was 'The Light of the World'. The speaker, Ann Smith spoke about different parts of the painting by William Holeman Hunt of Jesus standing at the door knocking; this painting is titled 'The Light of the World'. For example, she pointed out that in the painting, Jesus feet were facing away from the door. She then went on to say that there might come a time when Jesus will stop knocking on our hearts door and it will be too late, she urged us that now is the time to let Jesus into our lives. She also spoke of the love that Jesus has for us and that He wants to have a relationship with us.
The band played a beautiful piece of music that complimented this message entitled 'The Light of the World' and the beginning of this music powerfully represented Jesus knocking at the door.
Then the band also led two open air meetings on the Esplanade, after the morning service and at 5 pm. A good crowd of people stopped to stay and listen, especially when Major Jenny Barwins was telling a story for the children, as can be seen in the photograph. Some people joined in with the singing and some good conversations were had with some good people.
In the evening, Grangetown Salvation Army band blessed us further with their concert of praise. They praised God through their band music, solos, poems and testimonies. Major Jenny Barwins emphasised that all that they were doing was in praise to God by leaving us with these thoughts.
Through a song entitled 'When the music fades', she reminded us that the praise concert was all about God that God doesn't only look at their music and musical abilities, but He also looks at their hearts too, it's all about God. She encouraged us to ensure that it will always be all about God for us too.
