Sunday racing

Conditions were such that racing was cancelled. Let us hope for better conditions this Sunday.

Wednesday Racing

Wednesday evening saw glorious sunshine and a light but variable breeze. Race officer Emily Kirby set a starboard course towards Monkstone, out to sea and back towards the moorings for the three Ospreys and one Phantom on the water.

Mike Stace and Deanna Morton in their Osprey had a cracking start and set the pace for the rest of the fleet to catch. Paul Evenden and Anthea Paterson in their Osprey were next across the start line, with Paul Redford in his Phantom and Nick Berridge and Richard John in their Osprey following.

The wind was variable during the race and picked up slightly towards the end, but after four laps for the Phantom and five laps for the Ospreys, resulting in 45-50 minutes of racing, the results were as follows: 1. Mike Stace and Deanna Morton; 2. Paul Evenden and Anthea Paterson; 3. Nick Berridge and Richard John; and 4. Paul Redford in his Phantom.

Junior Training

Over 30 youngsters turned up for the usual junior training session which resulted in 18 club boats on the water, a magnificent sight. Conditions were perfect for training, a good breeze in lovely sunshine.

After a very productive training session, the trainees and racers were treated to the universally acclaimed Terry Evans BBQ.

Sessions are planned for every Wednesday at 5.15 pm, weather permitting.

Passage Race

The annual passage race from Hobbs Point to Tenby takes place tomorrow (Saturday). At around 4 pm onward, a flotilla of yachts will descend on Tenby. If the wind is in the right direction, they will be flying spinnakers, which will be quite a sight.

Jam Evening

The next session will take place on Monday, June 15. Don't miss it, it's the place to be!

Club Steward and Opening Hours

As mentioned last week, the club is delighted to have acquired the services of Nicholas Bolwell, who will be our steward for the summer at least. He has commenced his duties in fine style by dishing up a superb fish pie, much appreciated by the club's culinary wizard, Terry Evans.

Nicholas is very keen to get on the right side of the ravenous hordes which frequent the club. There will be food available at all times, including some lunchtimes other than Sundays. I understand Nicholas is quite prepared to offer advanced booking for lunchtime or evenings. His number is 07966807944.

Come on down and support Nicholas on his culinary ventures. The club will be open every evening and Sunday lunchtime for the foreseeable future.

Website

Information on club activities etc. can be found on the club's website.

This is a very friendly and welcoming club, which endeavours to involve all members in a variety of activities.

If anyone would like to join us, now is an ideal time, especially with the discount still on offer.
