It was a lovely warm summer's day on Sunday with a westerly force three to four predicted by Len Bateman. Unfortunately, by race time, the wind had not arrived and the competitors had to make do with an intermittent force zero to one.

Dan Jackson, as race officer, set a small triangular course commensurate with the conditions. The three Ospreys of Mike Stace and Deanna Morton, Ted Lewis and Matt Goldwait and Paul Evenden and Anthea Patterson were joined at the start by the two phantoms of Nick Berridge and Paul Redford, the RS500 of Edward Dashfield and Emily Kirby and the RS400 of Mark and Julia Dashfield.

The race was dominated by the Osprey of Mike Stace travelling astonishingly fast in such light conditions. After two slow laps, Mike crossed the line comfortably ahead of Ted and Matt and Edward and Emily. After applying handicaps and on corrected time, the race was won by Mike Stace and Deanna Morton, followed by Edward and Emily, followed by Nick Berridge three seconds ahead of Ted and Matt, who were four seconds ahead of Paul Redford. Amazingly close sailing after almost an hour on the water.
