Darts
Guess what? We lost in style! We were hammered! We were certainly put in our place. Our third whitewash of the season brought us back to earth with a vengeance. Again our nemesis was our inability to nail that final double. There is no match scheduled for this evening, but, by order of captain Terry Evans, there will be a practice session.
Next Friday, April 10, the rescheduled match against the Jeffreyston Inn will take place at Jeffreyston.Participating members please note.
Jam Evening
Last Wednesday's jam evening again proved a thoroughly pleasant musical experience. Many thanks to Will Scott and Terry Evans for co-ordinating the event.
The next session will take place on Monday, April 20. During the sailing season, Wednesday evenings will be taken up by the popular junior sail training. Hence the reason for the switch to Mondays until October where it will revert to Wednesdays.
Safety boat training day and Flares demonstration
The safety boat training day attracted a large turnout. Before going on the water, the group was given some land based tuition by Ian Williams, a representative from the RYA with years of experience in sailing at all levels.
After Ian's session, the trainees split into two groups, tractor training and safety boat training. Many thanks to Tommy D'Ortez and Connor Keohane, who spent most of the afternoon being 'rescued' by the trainees.
Also many thanks to Mark Dashfield for co-ordinating the safety boat instruction.
After the training session, all were treated to Terry Evans's nosh posh nosh, much appreciated after spending a couple of hours in very cold conditions.
The evening saw representatives from the RLNI arriving to give a talk and demonstration on the use of flares. Max Jones gave a very interesting and informative talk on the use of flares, which was followed by a practical demonstration on Castle Beach.
Many thanks to Andrew Lowe for co-ordinating the event. All agreed the day had been a very fruitful one.
