A beautiful summer's morning greeted the contestants for last Sunday's club race. Warm sunshine, blue skies, but absolutely no wind. The boats launched and drifted slowly towards the race area and the lightest of summer breezes arrived just in time for the start. Mike Stace and Deanna Morton were first away, followed by Ted Lewis and Mat Goldwait, both in Ospreys, club commodore and lady commodore in their RS400, Bill Dowell and Tommy D'Ortez and Paul Evenden and Anthea Patterson in their Ospreys. Guest race officer Ben Jones set a smallish triangle/ sausage course because of the light wind and the race was on. Good upwind speed by Ted and Mat saw them take an early lead, which they retained until the last lap when the RS400, sailing good downwind angles, overtook to take first place on the race course and on handicap. To sum up, Mark and Julia Dashfield were first, Ted and Mat second, Mike and Deanna third and Paul and Anthea just pipped Bill and Tom for fourth place. All enjoyed the first true summer's race sailed in shorts and T shirts, except for Anthea! Racing as usual this Sunday.

Cruiser Racing    The next TSC cruiser race is scheduled for tomorrow (Saturday) at 4 pm. Participating members please take note.

RNLI Lifejacket Demonstration

Max Jones from the RNLI's Sea Safety team will be presenting a lifejacket demonstration at the club at 7 pm this (Friday) evening - a  light-hearted presentation with a serious message which covers the use of lifejackets, how they should be fitted and how they should be   checked and maintained. This demonstration is relevant to ALL boat users, power as well as sail. Guests are welcome, so if you have boating friends who are not club members, please ask them to come along. Max will be accompanied by Tenby station's lifeboat sea safety officer, Andrew Lowe, and both will be available after the demo to answer questions on lifejackets and other sea safety equipment. Terry's delicious barbeque will be available from 8.30 pm onwards. You will also have the opportunity to book a free RNLI sea check for your boat - an adviser can visit your boat to provide friendly, informal and confidential advice about the safety equipment on board. A sea check is available for all leisure craft under 45ft - power, sail and PWCs. If you are unable to make the evening, but would still like to book a sea check, please call Andrew Lowe on 07770 996574 or 01834 842672 or   e- mail:  [email protected]">[email protected]
