Winter maintenance is the order of the day. This is the time of the year when members give their boats some tender love and care in readiness for the new season. There will be working parties required to carry out essential maintenance on club ribs, boats etc. - watch this space.
Sailing Meeting
All sailors and potential sailors are invited to air their views on the sailing (dinghies and cruisers) and training programme for the coming season at a meeting tonight (Friday). Although the fixture card has been drafted out, it is still possible to change it. The sailing forum starts at 7.30 pm. This is an opportunity for members to have their say regarding all things sailing. Be there!

Social Calendar
As mentioned last week, the social calendar for the foreseeable future is in the process of being drawn up. As a starter, there is a Steak Evening scheduled for next Friday, January 18. Please confirm, as soon as possible, your intention to participate by contacting Terry Evans on 844256. Whilst on a culinary theme, I'm delighted to report that Al fresco have agreed to cater for our St. Valentine's Dinner scheduled for Friday, February 15. Last week's practice session proved a very interesting affair. During the evening, captain Terry Evans and vice-captain Colin Parmenter teamed up to take on the pairing of John 'double-eight, double-eight' Akrill and Blake 'random' Shaw in a series of doubles. Terry and Colin scored reasonably well, but could not match the success of their opponents' random high scores. To rub salt in their wounds, Blake finished all games in fine style. As a result of this humiliating drubbing, Terry has called for an obligatory practice immediately after the sailing meeting has finished. The first league match will take place on February when we are at home to the Parsonage.

This popular evening of music takes place next Wednesday, January 16. Why not come down and enjoy great music in warm and convivial surroundings. It's the place to be!
