A large turnout on Sunday resulted in a flurry of verbal activity at the start line. The ever-growing Osprey fleet had to contend with the return of the mighty divine GP14! The fleet remained almost together on the first leg, but the increasing wind soon enabled the faster boats to show their paces. What of the blessed GP14, I hear you ask? Unfortunately, the finely tuned machine suffered catastrophic gear failure which meant early retirement, much to the frustration of helm and crew. It will be back! I do not have the full set of results to hand, but I believe the winner was Daniel Jackson in a RS600. More next week.
Junior Sailing
Conditions were deemed unsuitable for safe sailing, so the trainees were given land-based tuition, followed by the legendary Terry Evans BBQ. Would all juniors and parents please note that junior sailing will not take place next Wednesday, June 13. Most, if not all, of the instructors will be involved in the racing on the Haven in preparation for the Pembroke to Tenby Passage race which takes place on Saturday, June 16.
Cruise in Company
Today (Friday), weather permitting, several of the cruiser fraternity will sail to Ilfracombe, a popular venue with club members. The fleet will return on Sunday to Neyland in readiness for the above mentioned passage race.
Blues Jam Evening
The next session is scheduled for Wednesday, June 20. Always a great evening. Not to be missed! Will Scott and his band, Loose Change, will be performing at the club on Saturday, June 30. Definitely an evening to be at the club.
