Last Wednesday's sail training was again well attended, with sustained enthusiasm and commitment by the trainees. These youngsters have come on in leaps and bounds thanks to the patience and enthusiasm of the instructors. All were treated to the world renowned Terry Evans BBQ. Many thanks to Karin for her invaluable contribution. Next Wednesday sees the final training session of the season, as well as the end of the BBQ season. Will the world cope? The race for the club champion is still very close. Daniel Jackson seems to have taken a slight lead with successes in the last two races. The results for last Wednesday and Sunday are as follows. Wednesday: 1. Daniel Jackson in a RS600; 2. Nick Berridge in a Phantom; 3. Paul Evenden and Anthea Paterson in a Wayfarer. Sunday: 1. Daniel Jackson in a RS600; 2. Mike Stace and Deanna Morton in an Osprey; 3. Tommy D'Ortez in a Laser. Last weekend, Ted Lewis and Nick Berridge attended the Phantom Nationals. Apparently conditions were blustery to say the least which, accompanied by very large breakers on entry to the harbour, caused several masts to break and other major structural failures. Ted Lewis ended up mid- fleet overall, while poor Nick Berridge suffered major damage when his craft was holed, ironically, by a safety boat. Perhaps a weekend to forget?
