Sunday's turnout was again most encouraging considering the conditions. Increasing wind speeds meant that race officer, Nathan Spiller, had his work cut out supervising the fleet. There were several retirements due to gear failure, and many wettings, but many did finish, which is a testimony to skill and perseverance. The final 1-2-3 was as follows: 1. Govan Berridge in a Laser; 2. Nick Berridge in a Phantom; 3. Paul Evenden and Anthea Paterson in a Wayfarer.
Racing as usual this Sunday.
DARTS
The match arranged for last Friday was postponed by the Three Mariners on Wednesday. Watch this space for the result. This evening we are away to the Basscatchers, who are based at the Hope. Captain Terry Evans expects a good turnout and possibly a first win against a traditionally strong Basscatchers team.
PARTY
The lifting-out party went very well, with the multitudes being fed and watered by the every ready duo of Terry Evans and Karin Morris. Many thanks to Terry and Karin for all their efforts in making the evening such a success.
NEWSLETTER
A newsletter has been circulated to all members. It contains details of events both on the sailing front and of the social scene. It also contains the menus for the annual dinner and prize-giving, which will be held on Friday, November 18, at the Fourcroft. Would members who intend to participate please fill in the form included in the newsletter and return it to Mike Stace. If last year's dinner is anything to go by, it promises to be a great evening.
The club annual general meeting will take place on Saturday, November 19, at 7 pm. This is an opportunity for members to have an input into club affairs and its future.
QUIZ EVENING
The first quiz of the season will take place tomorrow (Saturday) evening. All are welcome. Quiz master, Terry Evans, is looking forward to grilling you.
HOWARD'S END
