Many apologies to multitude of avid readers for the unexpected omission of last week's article. The foibles of modern technology denied the local and international fans of their weekly literary pleasure. Last week's report is included in this article. A week on Sunday, several of our regular sailors travelled to Saundersfoot to take part in the annual Coppet Hall Week. Racing did take place, the remaining fleet enjoying the conditions. The racing was very close on handicap, with Paul Evenden and Anthea Paterson recording their first podium position. The celebrations are still going on - well done to the Wayfarers! The final 1-2-3 was: 1. Mike Stace and Deanna Morton in a Redwing; 2. Paul Evenden and Anthea Paterson in a Wayfarer; 3. Mark and Julia Dashfield in a RS400. The 'come and try' series of evenings proved very successful, with the trainees enjoying variable conditions over the three evenings. Many thanks to all who gave so freely of their time to make the sessions enjoyable - in particular to principal instructor Blake Shaw who co-ordinated the event. On Wednesday, they were treated to the legendary Terry Evans BBQ - sufficient to encourage membership in itself. Last Wednesday, junior sail training attracted the usual plethora of trainees eager to take to the water. Senior instructor, Blake Shaw, put them through their paces and was very pleased with their progress. The usual post-training, universally acclaimed Terry Evans BBQ was enjoyed by all. Many thanks to Karin Morris for her invaluable contribution. Last Sunday saw several hardy members take to the water in most uncomfortable conditions when it rained 'cats and dogs'. It was great to see new dads Nathan Spiller and Daniel Jackson taking part after paternal lay-offs. The racing was close, with the Redwings not having it all their own way on this occasion. The final 1-2-3-4 was: 1. Steve Stubbs in a Laser; 2. Daniel Jackson and Neil Roberts in a Laser 4000; 3. Ted Lewis in a Phantom; 4. Mike Stace and Deanna Morton in a Redwing. Racing as usual this Sunday and next Wednesday.
