As mentioned last week, the new season will begin towards the Easter period. A fixture card is being drawn up at this moment and will hopefully be circulated to members and friends within the next four to five weeks.
The future of any sporting club lies in a strong junior section. To this end, the club will be continuing its programme of sail training for youngsters with a revised programme to give opportunities for training and racing.
The philosophy is simple - sailing is primarily fun even when competition is intense. If juniors do not enjoy a sport they will not persevere at it. We at Tenby Sailing Club have always endeavoured to combine the fun side with a certain competitiveness - a successful format borne out by the fact that several of our sailors have achieved honours up to international standard.
If any youngster out there is interested in participating in this thrilling sport, please contact principal instructor, Blake Shaw, on 842535, for further details. On top of the sailing, the social scene isn't bad either, especially Terry Evans's Wednesday BBQs! Watch this space for timings when the new season begins.
SOCIAL SCENE
Members are reminded that the club is open as usual on Friday and Saturday evenings throughout the winter period. As incentive to the ravenous amongst you, there will be food available tomorrow evening prepared by Terry Evans.
Due to a clash of events, a change in the social calendar has been forced on us. Unfortunately, the Soup Frenzy evening, scheduled for Saturday, January 17, has had to be postponed to a later date, probably in a couple of months time - watch this space!
The next event, a challenging one, will be the Scalextric evening on Saturday, January 24. Why not come down and take on the best we drivers can offer as well as partaking in some fine grub!
Whilst talking about culinary matters, don't forget the annual St. Valentine's Day supper which takes place on Saturday, February 14. Commodore, Mike Stace, has hinted something special. To ensure a place, please contact Mike on 844484. It promises to be a gastronomic experience!
DARTS
We are away to the Castle Inn, Manorbier, this evening. Would participating members please note. Those who turned up for practice last week can only have been impressed by the form of captain Terry Evans, commodore Mike Stace and ex-commodore Rolly Squibbs! Should this form continue this evening, who knows?
SUBSCRIPTIONS
It's that time of the year again. Would members please note that annual subscriptions are now due. Please contact membership secretary, Julia Dashfield, on 844918, for further details.
Finally, anyone wishing to join this warm and friendly club should contact any member for further details.
