Dinghy sailing was again curtailed by the weather. Perhaps a certain rugby match also influenced the usual hardy sailors. This certainly was the case as far as the Haven was concerned. Nil desperandum, sailing as usual this Sunday, weather permitting.

However, the social scene continues. Last Saturday drew a crowd of hungry members who were treated to Eastern cuisine by the versatile Terry Evans. There will be food laid on this evening as well as an obligatory dart practice session. Members please note.

ANNUAL DINNER DANCE

This takes place tomorrow (Saturday) at the Heywood Mount Hotel, 7 for 7.30 pm. This is always a superb evening which is well attended by members and friends. Tomorrow is no exception, we look forward to good food and music. There will be the usual raffle, so I make a plaintive plea for raffle prizes. Many thanks in anticipation. Due to the above event, the club will be closed tomorrow evening.

DARTS

We lost narrowly to the Chemist. We had our chances to record a win, but our prowess at doubles is not good. Hence the obligatory practice this evening! Our next match is next week when we are at home to the Crown - always a difficult team to beat.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

Next Saturday, November 22, the club holds its annual general meeting. This is an important evening in the club's calendar when members have an opportunity to shape the future of the club. So it is imperative that members support the club on this evening. Proceedings start at 7 pm.

Looking further ahead, would members please note the following dates: Saturday, December 6 - Christmas Poems and Pints; Friday, December 12 - Junior Party; Saturday, December 20 - Club Christmas Carvery; Friday, December 26 - Boxing Day Swim; Wednesday, December 31 - New Year's Eve Party.

LONDON

BOAT SHOW

Anyone interested in participating in next January's trip to the New London Boat Show should contact Tony Spiller on 812325 for further details.

As for the new year is concerned, a social calendar is being drawn up and will be included in the next newsletter. For example, a Scaletrix Grand Prix evening and a jazz evening are just two of the proposed events. If any member has any novel suggestions for a social evening, contact Terry Evans on 844256; he will be delighted to hear from you.
