Sunday's racing drew a large turnout, with participants enjoying the blustery conditions.
Rolly Squibbs in his Redwing was faring very well and was challenging Chris Mackay's eventual top spot. Unfortunately, a forestay broke which meant a potential mast breakage. Skilful helming accompanied by Alex MacDonald's adept use of the trapeze ensured a safe return to the safety of the harbour.
Meanwhile, the remainder of the fleet battled it out in gusty conditions with the final result being: 1. Chris Mackay in a RS600; 2. Mike Stace and Deanna Morton in a Redwing; 3. Ted Lewis in a Phantom.
Angelo Fecci was the first Topper home - his recent aquisition is paying dividends.
This was also Ted Lewis's first race in his recently acquired Phantom. Judging by his performance, Ted will be a force to be reckoned with in future races.
Tomorrow the annual Hobbs Point to Tenby Passage race takes place. This is always a popular event, with the cruiser fraternity battling it out over an average time of six-seven hours. If weather conditions are suitable, it is anticipated the first boats will arrive in Tenby Sound about 2 pm, with the last sailing in at about 6 pm.
To cater for the ravenous amongst the participants and club members and friends, Terry Evans will be putting on a barbecue, starting at around 7 pm. The Wednesday barbecues are also proving popular, with food being served from 7 pm onwards - members please note.
Whilst on food, club steward Howard Ball is back on form. He is intending to extend his culinary reptoire, so members can expect more mouth-watering meals.
