I'm pleased to report the predisent of the divine GP14 fan club thought last week's attempt at humour was an improvement on the previous effort. No maritime humour this week - instead there follows photographs of the commodore, Rolly Squibbs, presenting junior members with trophies. Together are Tommy D'Ortez and Angleo Fecci who are honoured for their efforts in the Junior Section. Indeed, Tommy has also gained trophies presented for representing the Sea Cadets at the Welsh Championships. Also included is Jonathan Lewis being presented with the Masthead Trophy for services to the club. Jonathan's assistance throughout the season is very much appreciated.

GREAT JIG-SAW RACE

The inaugural jig-saw race was a resounding success, with seven team turning up to do battle. Jig-saw race officer, Mark Dashfield (hitherto known as JRO), initially carefully explained the rules to each team, but was called upon on several occasions to mediate.

Kick-off was at 8.10 pm, with the JRO allocating each team with an unseen jig-saw. The first prize of the evening went to team Kontiki for completing all the edges. At 9.20 pm, Blake's 7 completed a string of pieces from side to side thereby qualifying for a liquid prize. At 9.30, Nemesis completed a line of pieces from top to bottom which also qualified for a liquid prize. At 10.55, the last piece was put in place by Blake's 7 thereby winning the competition. At this point, the JRO declared the first three teams to be: 1. Blake's 7; 2. Kontiki; 3. Nemesis.

Team Double D was awarded a prize for endurance.

Blake's 7 consisted of Blake Shaw, Althea Shaw, Terry Evans, John Morgan, Judy Morgan, Royce Thomas and Gwer Thomas.

Kontiki consisted of Tony Spiller, Sheila Spiller, Stan Hutchings and Anne Hutchings.

Nemesis consisted of Nev Stace, Joan Stace, Mike Stace and Deanna Morton.

Some would argue there was in imbalance, but the JRO accepted these numbers, so there.

Many thanks to the JRO and to Julia Dashfield for providing the ravenous with a delicious chilli con carne. All agreed the evening had been a great success, to be repeated annually!

DARTS

Yes, another thrashing, but we had a great evening. No darts this evening, but there will be practice. To tempt members, the club is holding a 'happy evening' on beer sales. What an offer, not be missed. See you this evening.
