Sunday's turnout was a most encouraging start to the Frostbite series. The club welcomes the fleet of Solos. We hope they have a successful winter series.

Sunday's conditions varied greatly. Initially very little wind meant a short course with the fleet just making the start line. Eventually, all boats crossed the start line to be met by an increase in wind strength and a change of direction.

Race officer Terry Evans assisted by Helen Williams had their work cut out by several boats completing a differing number of laps. However, all went well, with the final positions being: 1. Rolly Squibbs and Alec MacDonald (Redwing); 2. Mike Stace and Deanna Morton (Redwing); 3. Bill Dowell and Nan D'Ortez (Redwing).

Well done the Redwings. Racing as usual this Sunday for all who are not taking part in the Welsh Games this weekend at Dale Sailing Club. The club has several participants - we wish them well.

On the junior sailing scene, regional sail training is scheduled for this winter. Anyone interested in taking part should contact Blake Shaw on 842535 for further details. This sail training programme consists of land-based and water-based activities organised by instructors from the WYA.

On the social side, the club continues to provide 'entertainment' for members and friends. To this end, a social programme has now been drawn up and will be published in the imminent newsletter. Some prime dates follow. Would members please note: Saturday, November 16 - annual club dinner dance and prize giving, to be held at Redberth Lodge this year. Menus will be circulated with the aforementioned newsletter. This is always a superb evening - let's make this year no exception and turn up in masses.

Saturday, November 23 - annual general meeting. This is an important date in the calendar. Would members make every effort to attend. Your voice is important.

The catering duo of Anne Hutchings and Sheila Spiller will be putting on an Autumn Barbecue on Saturday, October 26. Members please note.

Darts: Another closely contested match ended in a win for the Paddock. Again, captain Terry Evans put in a notable performance, but not enough to avoid a second defeat. Nil desperandum! We are magnanimous in victory and defeat. Be positive members - that elusive win is not far away. Having said that, another hard match this (Friday) evening away to the Chemist A, Saundersfoot. Participating members please note.

Finally, anyone who is interested in joining this warm and friendly club should contact membership secretary, Sheila Spiller, on 812325, or any club member for further details. We look forward to meeting you.
