The inclement weather, particularly on Saturday, prevented the 'come and try' weekend taking place. A few keen trainees turned up on Friday evening for the land based tuition, but the forecast was such that sailing had to be postponed to a later date. With a very full calendar, it is difficult to fit a complete weekend in over the summer. There are a few Saturday slots available, so watch this space for further information.

The weather improved on Sunday which meant that the second cruiser race of the season could go ahead in the evening. The usual fleet turned up ready to do battle.

The course chosen was 2A, taken from the set of courses diligently prepared by Mike Stace. Mike has spent sometime preparing a well presented manual of courses designed to suit varying conditions. Members are indebted to him.

After rounding Monkstone Point, the fleet spread out as varying tactics were employed by the helms. The sailing was excellent and all helms and crews had a thoroughly enjoyable time. The eventual placings were:

1. Tejeda, helmed by John Griffiths; 2. Hawke 20, helmed by Ted Lewis; 3. Aries, helmed by Steve Lewis; 4. Slipstream, helmed by Blake Shaw.

Sailing as normal this Sunday, weather permitting, although several members will be taking part in Coppet Hall Week at Saundersfoot and we would like to wish Saundersfoot all the best for their annual flagship event.

JUBILEE FESTIVITIES

Due to several members having various commitments, the Jubilee party planned for this weekend has had to be cancelled.

However the club will still be open as normal.

Finally, anyone interested in joining this warm and welcoming club, should contact any member who will be pleased to offer further information.
