The multitude of trainees that turned up on Wednesday were most disappointed to learn that inclement weather meant no sailing. As mentioned last week, several of the trainees are progressing very well and will soon be able to join the main fleet racing.

The RS contingent travelled to Mumbles last weekend to take part in the RS championship. The Tenby participants excelled themselves, with our own Gareth Morgan taking first place and Steve Stubbs fourth place. Considering the size and experience of the entry, this was no mean feat. Congratulations to Steve and especially Gareth for taking top honours. Well done!

Sunday's conditions were ideal for sailing. With the RS's in action in Mumbles, it was time for the more traditional boats to take the limelight. With the Redwings being the dominant class, the divine GP14 had its work cut out. The race was keenly contested, with Bill Dowell and Nan D'Ortez taking the lead. The race for second place was extremely close, with the GP14 lying second until a tactical error on the final heat allowed Dave Bowen and Helen Williams in.

The final 1-2-3 was: 1. Bill Dowell and Nan D'Ortez in a Redwing; 2. Dave Bowen and Helen Williams in a Redwing; 3. Terry Evans and Jane Brace in a GP14.

The divine GP14 is having a great season, with this latest position still being celebrated. All agreed that Sunday's racing was superb, with the GP14's position being especially pleasing to Jane Brace on her birthday.

As mentioned last week, the club will be featured on HTV Wales this Sunday, July 22. The programme is called Hot Pursuits and is shown at 6 pm.

Looking ahead to August 11-17, the club is hosting the Merlin Rockets National Championships. Any member able to help during this intensive week should contact Blake Shaw on 842535. Your help will be appreciated.
