Last Wednesday's turnout for sailing and training was very encouraging. The racing was keenly contested with the final 1-2-3 being: 1. Rolly Squibbs in a Redwing; 2. Mike Stace in a Redwing; 3. Tim Brace in a Mirror.

The annual Hobbs Point to Tenby Passage Race took place on Saturday. After a chaotic start, the large fleet of cruisers settled down to regotiate the Haven and passage to Tenby. The lead changed hands several times with helms adopting various strategies, especially in the vicinity of Crows Rock.

Eventually the boats sailed majestically into Tenby to earn a well-earned rest. The local cruisers fared very well, with all three taking the honours in Class 3. Well done to Tejeda, who pipped Slipstream by 38 seconds, very close considering the race took over six hours.

The final 1-2-3 was: 1. Tejeda helmed by John Griffiths; 2. Slipstream helmed by Blake Shaw; 3. Amphora helmed by Billy Stubbs.

Many thanks to PHYC for organising the event and to the 'ferry boys' Jonathan Lewis and Adam Ball for their sterling work. Well done boys.

Sunday's racing attracted a very large turnout. With favourable winds, the Redwings stole the day by taking the first four places as follows:

1. Rolly Squibbs and Alistair Mackay; 2. Bob Dowell and Nan D'Ortez; 3. Mike Stace and Deanna Morton; 4. Dave Bevan and Helen Williams.

Well done the Redwings!

The social scene continues. Many thanks to Sheila Spiller and Anne Hutchings for putting on a delicious BBQ which was very much appreciated by all, especially the Passage Race helms and crews.

Next weekend the club holds its annual Regatta which always attracts a wide and varied field. Again Sheila and Anne will be on hand to keep the 'inner man' content.

The social committee will be meeting soon to finalise a summer programme. If any members have ideas which they would like to put forward, please contact Terry Evans on 844256 this weekend.

We look forward to hearing from you.
