Several brave sailors ventured forth on Wednesday in very breezy conditions which obviously suited Nathan Spiller in his Laser Vortex.
The final one-two was: 1. Nathan Spiller in a Laser Vortex; 2. Rolly Squibbs in a Redwing.
An indication of the conditions was the fact that only two finished. Sympathy to Gareth Morgan whose RS700 suffered a broken mast.
Sunday's conditions were slightly lighter, but nevertheless testing. Nathan Spiller entertained with a spectacular capsize, while Luke Stace's crew, Mark Horne, had an early bath due to a bow plate suddenly parting company from the boat.
Fun and games was had by all, with the final 1-2-3 being: 1. Steve Stubbs in a RS700; 2. Rolly Squibbs and Alistair Mackay in a Redwing; 3. Nathan Spiller in a Laser Vortex.
As mentioned last week, several of our regular sailors took part in Saundersfoot Sailing Club's Coppet Hall Week. A very large entry was recorded, with the Tenby contingent finishing as follows: 6. Steve Stubbs; 9. Daniel Jackson; 17. Chris Mackay; 24. Bill Dowell; 27. Rolly Squibbs; 39. Nathan Spiller; 83. Gareth Morgan; 93. Dave Edwards.
Well done to all who took part. Thanks also to Ed Dashfield who helmed a safety boat throughout the week and for the trolley transportation.
Again, many thanks and congratulations to Saundersfoot Sailing Club for a very successful event.
Sail training and racing as normal on Wednesdays, commencing at 6 pm, and racing as usual on Sundays, commencing at 10 am for an 11 am start.
Last Sunday, the Irish dancing ensemble Celtic Claddagh entertained a very appreciative audience, demonstrating the skill and agility associated with Irish folk dancing. Many thanks, we look forward to a return visit soon.
Tomorrow (Saturday), the club is serving afternoon teas. Please support this innovative venture. What could be nicer than a delicious scone and tea in convivial and picturesque surroundings. We look forward to meeting you.
