With the end of the Rotary year creeping up, president of the Rotary Club of Tenby, Rotarian Richard Ormond, and his fellow Tenby Rotarians were very pleased recently to be able to present a considerable number of cheques to many local charities and associations, together with presentations to local representatives of some national charities.
The presentations took place at a recent meeting of the club, at their club venue, The Royal Lion Hotel, Tenby, when all representatives present were able to mingle with the Tenby Rotarians and other guests, and also enjoy a sumptuous buffet.
The Tenby club's main charity recipients this year were the Wales Air Ambulance and the Tenby and District Friends of the Community, however, during the evening, president Richard Ormond warmly congratulated all the representatives for the tremendous work that they all do in the community, and while the Rotary club were presenting cheques of varying amounts to different organisations, he stressed they were all equally valued and appreciated for their contributions, much of which was unsung.
All recipients in turn thanked the club sincerely for their donations and gave a short summary of their work.
Cheques presented on the night were to Tenby United RFC, Tenby Football Club, Tenby Air Training Corps, Pembrokeshire Cancer Support, Tenby Junior School, Tenby Playgroup, Paul Sartori Foundation, Ty Hafan Children's Hospice, Tenovus, Pembrokeshire Mind, Alzheimer's Society, Cancer Research Wales, Age Concern, Wales Air Ambulance and the HOPE Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Centre, Neyland.
Apologies were received due to other commitments from the St. John's Ambulance and Tenby Infants School, to whom cheques will be presented in due course.
The presentations followed a successful year for the Tenby club, the highlight of which was the club's first summer event at Tenby harbour, and following the tremendous reception received for last year's event, the club is delighted to confirm that it will be hosting two events this summer, with events being held on Sundays, July 25, and August 29.
Along with the traditional Round Table, Lions Club and RNLI fund-raising events, this will see a hive of activity at the harbour every weekend throughout the school summer holidays.
