A Tenby resident was joined by Wales’ First Minister over the Bank Holiday weekend for the start of the ‘Pride Day’ parade in Swansea.

First Minister Mark Drakeford joined Tenby’s Jim Cornwell, who was recently elected Chair of GOC (Gay Outdoor Club) for the Swansea Pride event on April 29.

Jim, the former Town Crier for Tenby and Town Councillor said he was “delighted and thrilled” to meet the First Minister, who together with the Welsh Assembly fully supports these events.

“The First Minister was wearing a rainbow tie to show his support and addressed the large crowd, when we reached the Guildhall,” said Jim.

“Huge crowds turned out to cheer and enjoy the parade on a lovely sunny day.

“GOC is an inclusive and diverse organisation that supports the LGBTQI + community and covers the whole of the United Kingdom.

“I have a busy time ahead as next year the Club will celebrate its 50th Anniversary.

“My current role is to cover the whole country, walking with our Regional Groups and attending their Pride Day events,” he added.
