The annual Remembrance Sunday service at Tenby war memorial was very well attended. The Mayor, Clr. Mrs. Christine Brown, led the townspeople and representatives of the armed forces, service associations and local organisations in paying tribute to the fallen of the two world wars and other subsequent conflicts.
The service was conducted by the Rector, Canon David Jenkins, supported by the Mgr. Canon Johnson, and the very large number of wreaths bore witness to the continuing remembrance of the glorious dead by the people of Tenby.
The exhortation was rendered by the president of the Tenby Royal British Legion, Wilf Hardy MBE, and musical accompaniment and the Last Post was provided by combined Salvation Army and Town Band musicians; the two minutes silence being marked by the firing of maroons by the RNLI coxswain Alan Thomas.
Following the war memorial service, the service of remembrance was held in St. Mary's Church, which was again conducted by the Rector, who also gave a powerful address for the occasion,
The Roll of Honour was read by Rev. Donald Pope and the Khohima Epitaph was rendered by the president of Tenby Royal British Legion.
Musical direction was under Dr. John Harrison and the parade marshals for both services were Robert Cooke and Lt. Cdr. (R) Keith Peachey.
