The run-down state of Tenby Railway Station has been outlined to Conservatives in South Pembrokeshire. Simon Hart, parliamentary candidate for the area, visited the station while on a fact-finding tour of the town with Mayor, Clr. John Griffiths and town clerk, Mr. Andrew Davies. "There was peeling paint, litter on the line and weeds growing everywhere," said Mr. Hart. "It gives a terrible first impression to one of the county's main tourist towns. The station is an important gateway and it looks so drab and unwelcoming." Angela Burns, Conservative AM for the area has now written to the appropriate bodies to try to get the station spruced up. She said: "We are also concerned about the lack of trains that pass through Tenby, particularly on event days such as rugby internationals, and are asking if any more can be laid on. "We are supposed to be encouraging people to go green, but unless we make the options such as train travel in rural areas available then it just won't happen."
