Sir,
During the campaign for 2016, the Air Training Corps, the Army Cadets and the Sea Cadets provided the street collections, raising £2,390. Also, Mr. Gordon Prime, Normandy Veteran/RBL president collected £316.
Special events by the Vintage Motor-Cycle Club, and a knitted poppies provider, raised £50. The church Armistice collections were £514. Especially good were our schools, who topped £859. Caldey Island Abbey sent a gift of £60.
Recently received were several donations bequeathed, raising an extra £395. Also, the wreath donations from many of our organisations totalled £1,357.50 and we await several more cheques to help raise £12,000 for 2016.
The shops, pubs, clubs, restaurants, chip shops, local traders, the petrol stations and Tenby Leisure Centre are all included within the total amount. So, everyone played a part!
At this point, I must mention Mr. Graham Phillips, Veteran/RBL secretary and Mr. Paul Weit, RBL treasurer, for providing many hours over several days by assisting us with the massive task of counting, verifying and bagging all the collections.
Sincere thanks also to Mr. Andrew Davies (Tenby town clerk) for the storage of, and assisting with issuing the wreaths at the De Valence Pavilion; the wreaths being the most poignant act for Remembrance and Armistice Day every year.
Thank you all for the amazing amount once again’.
Ross (Poppy Organiser) and Chris Morris
(PAO/RBL chairman)
