AUDITIONS are being held tonight (Friday) for the forthcoming autumn production by Tenby Players of 'The Farndale Avenue Housing Estate Townswomen's Guild Dramatic Society Murder Mystery', a comedy by David McGillivray and Walter Zerlin Jnr. The play has four female characters and one male.
Director Len Harvey says: "Everything that could go wrong with a production goes wrong with this one - scenery collapses, cues are missed, actors fail to turn up, sound effects take on a strange note. This play will be great fun for both actors and audience. We will be pleased to see tonight anybody who wants to either act or help in a backstage capacity. Please come to the County Club on The Croft at 7.30 pm.
"These auditions follow the Players' successful appearance at the Torch Theatre last weekend for the Pembrokeshire One-Act Play Festival. Tenby Players didn't win any of the prizes this year, which went mostly to The Tabernacle Players for their moving production of 'The Train', but chairman Hilary Harvey told the Observer: "It was good to participate in a festival where the standards were very high, and the whole festival was plainly much appreciated by a good audience. We were particularly pleased to include two newcomers to Tenby Players in our production, Lucy Collins and Chris Richards (pictured above), who received favourable comments from the adjudicator."
The next appearances on stage of the Tenby Players will be further performances of their successful production of 'On Golden Pond.' The Players will be repeating it at the Queens Hall, Narberth, on June 27, and again at the De Valence for every Thursday in July.
