A Tenby resident has urged the town council to find a suitable spot for an old memorial plaque to be relocated. The plaque was originally erected to commemorate the deaths of four local church members.

In correspondence that came before the council at their meeting on Tuesday night, Mr. John Griffiths explained that a suitable site should be found for the plaque which was removed from the chapel in Lower Frog Street when it ceased to be a place of worship almost 20 years ago.

"I understood from the late Wilf Hardy that a number of efforts had been made over the years to find a suitable site for this plaque, but to no avail, and time continues to pass without a successful conclusion," wrote Mr. Griffiths, who added that he would be happy to donate £100 towards the cost.

Clr. Trevor Hallett agreed that a new site should be found for the plaque.

"It would be a great shame if this plaque was lost; we should make every effort to consider a few places where it could be placed."

Clr. Mrs. Sue Lane said that the remembrance garden in the New Cemetery would be a nice option, while Clr. Mrs. Caroline Thomas suggested that the council enquire with St. Mary's Church to see if they had any room for the plaque.

Councillors agreed to liaise with Mr. Griffiths on the matter.
