With Tenby Town Council looking at ideas as to how to celebrate the Royal wedding next month, one councillor has suggested a way that local school children can remember the occasion.
At Tuesday night's meeting of the council, Clr. David Morgan said that he had looked into costings of providing pupils in Tenby with commemorative 'earthenware' mugs that would have a picture on one side of the Royal couple, Prince William and Catherine Middleton.
"I think it's a fabulous idea and a great way to involve the children and remind them of the occasion," said Mayor, Clr. Mrs. Julie Evans.
Clr. Mrs. Sue Lane and Clr. Mrs. Caroline Thomas also wanted a decision made on whether to proceed with purchasing bunting to put up around the town for the event, which the council plans to celebrate with a hat parade and wedding-style reception at the harbour, with the wedding being shown on a big screen.
Clr. Mike Evans suggested that the council could use subsidies from their civic entertainment fund or contingency funds to cover the costs.
