Tenby needs to act fast on producing a tourism 'action plan', a local councillor claimed this week.

Speaking at Tuesday night's meeting of Tenby Town Council, Clr. Mrs. Christine Brown said she agreed with her colleague, Clr. Mike Evans, who recently called for the town council to be more proactive in its actions to access funding from a 'regeneration scheme'.

The call had come during discussions on the council working in the future with the Pembrokeshire Destination Management plan partnership to find ways of promoting the resort further.

"We do need to be more proactive in developing this action plan, otherwise we'll be left behind," remarked Clr. Mrs. Brown.

"The last time we compiled one, was 2006, which was quite a while ago, and with the economic climate as it is, and the possibility of county councils amalgamating, an action plan would help us with grant funding," she continued, suggesting that the town council works together with other groups and organisations in the town on the matter.

"I agree that the way forward is to consult with other parties on this," added Clr. Mrs. Tish Rossiter, with councillors agreeing that the item should be put on the next agenda to be discussed further.
