Sir,

From the Central Support Team, NHS Wales Department of the Assembly comes a letter to tell me that:

'A full business case for the renewal of services at NAH has been prepared by the Pembrokeshire and Derwen NHS Trust. It has been approved by the Trust Board, the Pembrokeshire Local Health Board ('representing GPs'), the Pembrokeshire Community Health Council,' but not so, I believe, by most of the people likely to be affected by the absence of beds in the NAH, for which are to be substituted beds in care homes, which are said to need 'support' such as public money.

To equip NAH with its own beds is said to be non viable, which means it would be not profitable. This is why Pembs. and Derwen have cooked up a Full Business Case for NAH. The case now goes to the Wales Assembly.

Bevan is dead. Health care as a public service is dying from a thousand cuts. Privatisation moves on to capture another piece of the action.

HIPPY SONG

I got a hip, you got a hip,

All our children got a hip

For me to get to Paradise,

'twill cost me some thousands

To walk and run all over,

All over...

Without that money

You just ain't going there,

Walking, running,

You've got to be viable,

You'll see.
