Tenby RNLI has received a boost from the seaside town’s Mayor and Deputy, following a community art initiative held in partnership with Tenby Arts Events, where an RNLI-themed competition was held.

Tenby Mayor, Cllr Dai Morgan and Deputy Mayor, Cllr Tom Sloan were delighted to present a donation of £260 to Tenby RNLI lifeboat coxswain Lisa Viggers recently.

As part of this RNLI-themed art competition, Tenby RNLI generously loaned equipment and items for local youth groups to use as inspiration for their artwork.

The competition encouraged young people to engage creatively while learning about the incredible, lifesaving work the RNLI carries out along our coastline.

“We’re thrilled to announce that the winning entry came from Tyrone Williams, whose talent and passion truly shone through in his artwork,” said Mayor, Cllr Morgan.

“In an incredibly thoughtful gesture, Tyrone donated his winning piece to Tenby RNLI — and we’re excited to share that the RNLI’s fundraising team now plans to auction the artwork to raise further funds in support of their vital service.

“This initiative has been a wonderful example of Tenby’s community spirit in action — from the young artists and organisers to the ongoing bravery and commitment of our RNLI volunteers.

“Tenby Town Council extends its heartfelt thanks to everyone involved, and especially to Tyrone for his generosity and artistic contribution. Together, we continue to celebrate and support those who keep our shores safe,” continued the Mayor.

The Mayor said that Tenby Arts Events had been inundated with RNLI artwork and it took a lot longer to sort through to choose a winner.

“Genuinely, we had hundreds of submissions from local creatives and we are thankful and appreciate everyone entering,” he added.

Also at the presentation were Deputy Mayoress, Daniella Sloan, Molly and Ava Sloan, along with Tenby Town Council’s Sharon Thompson and Oscar Thompson.
