Sunday in Tenby saw one of its locals celebrating a century - with a ceremony held to mark Joy Griffiths turning 100.

Tenby’s Mayor Cllr Dai Morgan and Mayoress were invited to mark the occasion on August 10, as the celebrations began with a special service at St Mary’s Church, where friends, family, and members of the community gathered to give thanks for Joy’s remarkable life.

Tenby Town Council said that the service was filled with warmth, music, and reflection, recognising not only the incredible milestone of a century of life but also the countless contributions Joy has made to those around her over the years.

Afterwards, Joy was surrounded by her loving family and close friends for a gathering full of laughter, shared memories, and, of course, cake!

The Mayor was honoured to share in the occasion, presenting his best wishes on behalf of the town and expressing admiration for the vitality, kindness, and community spirit Joy continues to inspire.

“Reaching 100 years is a rare and wonderful achievement, and Joy’s story is one that reminds us all of the value of friendship, family, and togetherness,” said Mayor, Cllr Morgan.

“Here’s to a remarkable lady – may her days ahead be filled with happiness, love, and the same warmth she has shared with so many.”
