After securing first place at the Pembrokeshire tournament, Tenby Junior School mini red girls tennis team, travelled to the David Lloyd Centre in Cardiff, on June 12, to the South Wales mini tennis schools competition.

The girls had to beat off tough opposition from schools from Rhondda Cynon Taff, Bridgend and the Vale of Glamorgan to win the group stage in the morning.

The semi-final in the afternoon was against Newton school from Swansea. The watching parents saw some spectacular rallies before Tenby Juniors overcame their opponents to take their place in the final.

After an excellent final, the team just lost out to Evenlode School from the Vale of Glamorgan.

The girls attend Tenby Tennis Club where movement, coordination, ball skills and above all fun are hugely encouraged.

The mini red team have made their teacher Miss Wood and their coaches Yan Morris, Alison Lewis and Pip Welton very proud.
