Pupils at Tenby Junior Community School celebrated Harvest at Deer Park Baptist Church, Tenby, just before half-term in October. This year, the focus of the service was 'Seeds of Hope' and each class said poems and sang songs within the 'seeds' theme. Pupils learned a song in the African language about sowing seeds of kindness. All money collected at school was donated to the Beaufort Foundation, a Christian charity founded by Dr. Grace Karamura to help alleviate the desperate situation in Uganda. The education system in Uganda provides only limited free education, and children who have lost one or both parents, or otherwise come from poor families, have no hope of receiving any kind of education or training due to the lack of resources to pay for it. Hopefully, the £300 raised by Tenby pupils will make a difference to some Ugandan children. As well as donating money, pupils also brought tins of produce, which have been donated to the local Salvation Army. The tins will be put into Christmas hampers for needy families in this area. Thanks to all parents and families who attended the Harvest Service and have given generously. Thanks also to Pastor Tom Torok and Mr. Bryn Rees for their help during the service, and for the use of the church. The pupils are now busy preparing shoe boxes for the Romanian appeal later this month. Again thanks to parents for supporting this good cause.
