On Thursday, February 1, Tenby Junior School competed in the Pembrokeshire Rugby Tournament at Narberth RFC (write Jerome, Oliver, Dylan and Declan). Our first match was against Stackpole School and we got off to a good start, with the score being 31 -0 at half-time. We continued our form into the second half and the final score was 50-0, with tries scored by Jerome, Ellis, Dylan and Oliver. The second match was against Pembroke Dock School, where we again put in an excellent performance. Oliver and Dylan scored the tries in the first half, followed by two quick tries from Jerome in the second half. This win put us top of our group and into the quarter-finals against Tavernspite School. Jerome scored a fine try in the first half, which was quickly followed by a try from Ellis. Two more tries in the second half sealed a strong win and put us into the semi-finals, where we came up against Pembroke Dock again. Another convincing display by the boys gave us a 35-0 win, with the pick of the tries coming from Oliver Parsons, who smashed his way through the whole team. At this stage, we were delighted to have reached the final, but we knew that we would have to put in a huge effort to beat Prendergast School in the final. We started brightly, with all the boys giving it their all, in attack and defence. Jerome scored the first try, another excellent effort from distance, and he successfully converted it. Prendergast did hit back strongly and scored a try with less than a minute to go. The scores were tied at full-time and we went into a golden try situation - the first team to score would be the winner. Excellent passing between Declan and Dylan put Ellis into space and he successfully side-stepped a few of their players to score the winning try. We were the Pembrokeshire champions and we were absolutely delighted. We now have a visit to Stradey Park to look forward to when we compete in the Dyfed finals. Team was: Declan Escott, Dylan Rees, Jerome Mansbridge, Ben Roberts, Ellis Morgan, Oliver Parsons (capt.), Tomas Sarrionandia, Cory Davies, Bronzac Burley, Arry Harwood, Theo Hughes, Jordan Asparassa and Luke Hartland.
