Under 11s

The Andrew Price Tenby Under 11s played in glorious sunshine last Sunday against a spirited Milford side.

Tenby dominated the game from start to finish and scored some great team tries.

With a number of the squad not available, it gave the coaches time to have a look at some new faces which have joined the team this season.

The coaches also tried out a few different combinations, with boys playing in positions they are not used to.

All the new boys featured well, with winger John Williams putting in some great tackles, while Parry Phillips, who is developing into a useful player, also scored a great try.

Lorcan Williams, another player who has just recently started, is showing great promise with his skilful running, while his defensive duties are top drawer.

Harvey Johns worked well and ran well when he had the ball, while Tenby's forwards totally dominated, with both Morgans having great games and Thomas Rees cleaning up any loose ball.

Owain Evans, playing his first game for Tenby, showed what an exciting talent he his; his work-rate at the breakdown was superb, while also putting in some huge tackles.

What the coaches are pleased about is that when he plays more regularly with the boys, the understanding will get much stronger.

Harrison Duckett is another who has picked up his game this season and is showing up well.

Another winger to shine is Dewi Thomas, who made a great try-saving tackle and is always ready to run at the opposition. It was also pleasing to see Thomas Emanual crashing over for his first try and the coaches don't think he's stopped smiling since.

Great credit must go to Milford as they never gave up and they have some really big forwards and with a bit more work they will hopefully develop into a useful side.

The coaches played 22 players on Sunday, with every player getting on the field.

Match ball sponsors were Tenby Glass and Belvedere Residential Home .

This Sunday, the boys will have a tough game against Haverfordwest, with both teams, the Sharks and Tigers, playing.

Kick-off will be 10.30 am at Haverfordwest .

The sun shone and the large number of supporters were thrilled by the outstanding performance from all involved.

In the first match, the Tenby youngsters took on a sturdy looking Milford side. Archie started off the scoring with a strong run along the touchline.

Alex followed this with two tries of his own resulting from some fine support play by Charlie, Ifan, Dylan, Rio and George and strong running from Liam, Natalia, Taz and Iwan.

The team were as good in defence as they were in attack, with some diving tags at vital times keeping Milford out.

Archie ran in a further try before Alex, not to be outdone, ran the full length of the pitch for his touchdown.

A move started on the halfway with the last pass to Ifan intercepted by a flying Taz, who ran strongly to score the last try of the game, with Tenby winning by seven tries to nil.

The next game for the Tenby team was against Neyland 'All Blacks'.

Charlie was next to score a well-deserved try, having worked hard for the team.

Some excellent defensive play followed when Neyland fought back, with Liam, Rio, Dylan and Ifan throwing themselves into the tagging and keeping them from scoring.

Quick ball and fast running could have led to a number of tries from Iwan, who ran out of space, while Taz was stopped just short of the line.

It was Alex who next increased his personal tally with some exciting running to score two more tries.

Archie, with a typical display of speed and agility, finished off the game to score, making it nine tries to two to Tenby at the final whistle.
