Carmarthen Quins Under 9s 0
Tenby Swifts 4
Tenby produced an excellent result last weekend in winning at West Wales' premier club.
The young Folly Farmers are an exciting team full of players with a lot of talent which shows on the field. They play as many games as possible, which brings the best out of them.
This season has seen them travel most weekends to places such as Trimsaran, Furnace, Carmarthen and Penygroes, which are all outside of the Pembrokeshire matrix.
They still remain unbeaten on the road, with their only loss out of 18 games against Crymych at home.
With further games scheduled every week from now until the end of the season, against Pontyberem, Pontardulais, Llangennech, Bynea and Ty Groes, this will only add a more competitive streak to the boys.
The game against the Carmarthen Quins last Sunday gave the coaches an indication of how far they have come this season.
The Quins had some very useful and rather large forwards, but the young Swifts tore into them and more often than not knocked them back.
William Swales, as always, led from the front and scored the first try after good support work from Harvey Bowles, who had a good all-round game.
The second try was a real team effort. Thomas H. J. made a superb break, before releasing to Dom Booth, who charged through two Quins. He then off-loaded to Ben Millward, who came in on the angle before setting up a ruck.
This enabled Iori Hicks to pick and snipe up the blindside, before releasing to Harri Williams, who jinked his way past two defenders to score in the corner.
Henry McBeth and Ben made some fine tackles throughout the game, but credit must be given to Gethin Kelly, who had stepped up from the B team to have a superb all-round game.
Harri scored another good try after being set up by Thomas H. J. and Iori. This put some daylight between the teams.
The final nail in the Quins' coffin was when Dom raced clear to score out wide.
For the final two minutes of the game, the Quins were camped on the Tenby line, but still couldn't find a way through.
The boys were well gelled and it was shown in their determined faces that they wanted to keep a clean sheet.
Captain William Swales led the team superbly once again. Well done boys - fantastic game!
Training as usual, 5-6 pm on the astroturf in Tenby - rain or shine! New players welcome.
Tenby Under 11s Bounce Back
After two narrow defeats against Fishguard and Whitland away, there have been two consecutive wins for the Tenby Swifts Under 11s, against Pembroke and Pembroke Dock Quins, also in away matches.
The spring weather made for ideal conditions at the Quins ground last Sunday. The Tenby players seemed to all click together in a game where it was very hard to pick a man-of-the match. This was, however, awarded to Ryan 'The Ruthless' Jeramias for a terrier-like performance at hooker.
The forwards faced strong opposition, but their continual rucking and driving managed to produce quality ball for the backs who relished the drier conditions and managed to clock up a substantial score through 'hat-trick' Harry Goforth 3, Tom 'Ketch' Kinnear 2, Adam 'The Dart' Davidson 2, Jacob 'Mutley' Knox 2, and also The Mighty Max Brewster - a loosehead prop who is in tremendous form.
A brilliant effort was also put in by all other members of the team, including Jack 'The Tackle' Parkinson, Mally 'The Munch' Paxton, Aaron 'Powerhouse' Williams, Chris 'The Crunch' Caine and Lethal Lewis Jeramias.
Final score: Tenby 10 tries, Pembroke Dock Quins 1.
Tenby Under 11s and Under 10s teams are going to the new Parc y Scarlets ground tomorrow (Saturday). As well as playing a game at half-time during the Scarlets v Leinster match, they will also form the guard of honour for the teams.
Good luck to them and can players, parents and any others please be down at the Clicketts no later than 2 pm to catch the bus to the ground. Any parents going direct should meet on the ground outside the indoor training barn changing rooms at 4.30 pm.
A special message to Jordan Cornick to 'get well soon', from all the boys.
QUINS 4 tries
TENBY UNDER 10s 0
Tenby Under 10/11s travelled to the Quins with good spirits after a turbulent week with a couple of players down due to injury and holidays.
Tenby pulled together, producing a team which gave the Quins a run. Captain Jac Waters shook hands and away they went, fast and furious from the onset. There was excellent passing and fantastic tackles.
Tenby were hanging on; they knew this match would not be easy, but they gave a good performance and kept the spectators on their toes.
It was good, clean rugby and good sportsmanship between this newly-formed team, with Tom Murphy and Alex and Jac Waters driving forward at every opportunity, with Jack B, Tom Rossister and Jordan ripping balls from the Quins.
These U10 boys played their hearts out, but had much-needed help from Lewis J, Harry G, Ciaron W, Max S and Tom K - all excellent rugby players.
The final score was 4-0 to the Quins. It was an excellent game, Tenby worked hard and, even though the score speaks for itself, the boys enjoyed playing.
A special thank you to Andrew Hill for his excellent coaching, Jim Kinnear for his support and guidance and to the Under 13s on the sidelines. Hope you all have a great time at Parc y Scarlets tomorrow (Saturday).
Anyone interested in playing Under 10s rugby, please turn up at the Astroturf at Greenhill School, 5 - 6 pm on Thursdays.
