TENBY U10s 9 tries
On Sunday, Tenby Swifts Under 10s played their first game of the season, away at Milford Haven.
The match kicked off at a fast pace, with Tenby moving the ball around, out of reach of Milford's big pack. Great handling enabled Jack Broadhurst to finish off with the first try in the corner. Shortly after, Ryan Conbeer made a great run to give Tenby number two.
Danny played with good skill and this was rewarded with a fine try - the first of five for him in total. Danny's second came from great recycling of the ball by Jack Tucker and new signing Tao Davies and an excellent pass from Harri Williams.
Next score came after a brilliant burst from scrum-half Ben Palin, outrunning the midfield defence to go in at the corner.
Jack Broadhurst and Jac Waters played well, giving Danny his third.
After the half-time break, Tenby attacked instantly. Ben picked the ball from the scrum and passed it out for Danny's fourth. Tenby looked unstoppable.
Jac Waters had a fantastic run to the try line, only to be bundled into touch by the Milford defence. The resulting lineout ended with Danny scoring his fifth, diving for the line.
Tenby's other new signing, Alex Thomas, looked like he had played rugby before. Always aware of the ball and fighting for turnovers, he did not give up. Toby Poole has been given the responsibility of hooker and did his job with ease.
Jack Tucker had a powerful run, with Milford defenders just bouncing off him, which nearly resulted a try.
The last try of the game came from Ryan Conbeer, who ran almost the full length of the pitch and went over unopposed.
Tenby played brilliantly all game, with the fowards dominating up front and the backs using their skill and pace.
Team: Jack Broadhurst, Toby Poole, Jack Tucker, Tao Davies, Alex Thomas, Danny Wainwright, Harri Williams, Ryan Conbeer, Jac Waters, Ben Palin. Sub - Ben Milward.
TENBY U10s 12 tries PEMBROKE U10s 2
A lovely sunny morning at the Clicketts and Pembroke arrived to play Tenby in their second game of the season.
The boys were looking forward to this game, as two new signings for Pembroke played for them last year and both were great players.
The whistle blew and Tenby got stuck in. Ben Palin settled any nerves with the first try, with his great speed.
Tenby dominated the play and everyone looked good in their positions. Jack Broadhurst powered over, pushing aside the defence with ease. Jack scored his first of the game, followed shortly by his second, with excellent play from Toby gaining yards as he battled his way forward, outrunning the Pembroke defence. Meanwhile, Alex Thomas was always on the ground, retrieving the ball and turning it over on numerous occasions.
Good work from Tom Murphy and Tao Davies gave Ryan his first try.
The tackling by Danny was excellent, not letting Pembroke gain any ground at all.
An excellent offload by Alex Thomas to Danny, who caught the ball in one hand and controlled it brilliantly, nearly saw him go over for a try, but he was just caught out on the touchline.
Pembroke kicked from their own 22, but unfortunately for them it did not go far and only found the excellent hands of Jac Waters, who caught it perfectly and ran for the line to score an excellent try - well done, and that was only half-time!
The second half was much the same for Tenby, with Ryan Conbeer adding three more tries in succession, making five for him in total.
Jack Tucker scored another after excellent work from the boys, who showed great passing skills.
New signing Callum also scored a try, outrunning the defence, while Jordan produced invaluable tackles by stopping Pembroke in their tracks.
Ben made excellent decisions at scrum-half and this resulted in Danny grabbing a well-deserved try after all his tackling. Ryan scored his last try by running and tackling his old team-mates and, after winning the ball, he ran the length of the pitch and scored before the final whistle sounded.
Pembroke gave Tenby an exciting game, but the young Seasiders played excellent as a team, and it was most enjoyable to watch!
Team: Jack Broadhurst, Tao Davies, Jack Tucker, Toby Poole, Tom Murphy, Callum, Alex Thomas, Ben Palin, Danny Wainwright, Ryan Conbeer, Jordan, Jac Waters.
Under 9s
Tenby Swifts Under 9s entertained Pembroke last Sunday and got off to a flyer, playing exciting rugby, with all the team heavily involved.
Dom Booth had a day to remember, scoring four tries and picking up the coaches' player-of-the-game award. Close behind were Jamie Ebsworth and Billy Kinnear, who really put themselves about on the field and are always looking to link up with their team-mates, while there were three tries for Harri Williams, who was always looking to keep up the pace of the game to suit Tenby.
William Swales and Thomas also added fine tries after good work from scrum-half Iori Hicks, who also scored a superb solo effort.
The forwards, Morgan, Harvey and Gethin battled on and were always looking to offload, which enabled Billy to pick up two tries. Henry Mcbeth had his best game for a while and was also rewarded with a try after a lovely break from Jack, who was starting his first game of contact.
Tenby's defence was superb all game and credit must go to Dylan Scotcher and Alex Probert, who played out in the backs and tackled everything that Pembroke threw at them.
Praise must also go to Pembroke, who never gave up and were rewarded when their most influential player, William Lewis, scored a superb try.
