From kick-off Tenby looked sluggish, allowing Milford too much time and space and because of this the young Seasiders spent the first 10 minutes pinned in and around their own 22. Eventually, a missed tackle in midfield allowed Milford an overlap, which they used well and scored an unconverted try in the corner.
This proved to be the wake-up call that Tenby needed. From the restart, they put pressure on the Milford backs. A turnover at a ruck allowed second row Aled to force his way over the line.
Five minutes later, Aled scored again after the loose forwards had again turned over a ruck. Tenby went in at half-time 10-5 up, but far from dominant.
Early in the second half, flanker Aaron burst through some half-hearted tackles to score Tenby's third try.
Milford responded with a try to keep the game tight, but tries from winger Josh, scrum-half and captain Kieran, and flanker Bronzac put the game out of reach for the home team.
To their credit, Milford kept plugging away and again scored a try from a good backs move.
However, Tenby scored their seventh try after being awarded a penalty straight in front of the posts. Powerful prop Luke, making his debut, dropped his shoulder and drove over the line. This try was converted by Jerome, to make the final score Tenby 37 Milford 17.
A special mention to all four Tenby debutants, Luke, Marcus, Oliver and Shaun. They made a great contribution and have strengthened the squad significantly.
Next game is away to Whitland on September 28.
