CARDIGAN U12s 25 pts. TENBY UTD RFC U12s 5

On Sunday, Tenby travelled to Cardigan to play a very strong home unit. After Aaron lost the toss (ominous!), Tenby were forced to kick-off. From the outset, Cardigan bombarded the Tenby 22 with strong, but disciplined attacks, always looking to release their wingers. Tenby defended strongly, with last-gasp tackles denying the hosts an early score. Tenby's forwards were equal to their opponents, but an unfamiliar backline was being stretched by Cardigan. Eventually their winger took advantage of an overlap and scored in the corner. Tenby gave away an almost identical try five minutes later. Just before half-time, Cardigan grabbed a third to make the score 15-0. After a talking to, Tenby took the game right back to Cardigan and, after four phases of play by the forwards, the ball made its way out to winger Jonathon, who seemed certain to be tackled, but managed to roll away from the tackler to score in the corner. For the next quarter of the game all remained tight, until Cardigan scored two tries in the last five minutes to finally kill off all Tenby hopes. Despite the loss, the coaches were particularly pleased with the work ethic of the players, particularly the less experienced boys, who did themselves proud, namely Cain, Fin, Ethan, Jools, Theo and Tom P. All have been a great asset to the squad. Tenby were missing four experienced players, but a special mention must go to Josh Lewis, who decided to have his appendix out instead of playing rugby! Get well soon mate! Thanks to the parents who helped transport the boys and all for their continued support. Tenby fielded: Thomas, Daniel, Corey, Aled, Lewis, Aaron, Bronzac, Oliver, Kieran, Jerome, Elliott, Jordan, Cain, Jonathon, Nathan, Fin, Ethan, Jools, Theo, Tom.

TENBY U10s 3 tries CARDIGAN 2 tries A breakaway try in the first few minutes of this game at The Clicketts on Sunday morning came from the big, strong Cardigan team. Some more good attacking by Cardigan was halted by the Tenby forwards, who put in determined work for Edward Hurle to drive through and score his side's first try. Cardigan were still on the attack and produced another long run to score their second try. Excellent tackling by Tenby for turnover ball saw Jack Parkinson make a lot of ground with a lovely run and a bad kick by Cardigan was taken full advantage of by Edward H. Aaron Williams produced some hard tackles and Lewis Jeramias went on an unstoppable run, with a lovely side-step, to get Tenby their third and winning try. A relentless battle ensued after half-time, with both teams defending well. Jacob Knox handled the ball skilfully out of the scrum and there was some solid tackling from Tom Kinnear and a try-saving tackle by Jordan Cornick.

Tenby U8s 9 tries Cardigan 2

Playing their 11th game of the season last weekend, Tenby Under 8s put in a great display, beating Cardigan by nine tries to two. The boys put in an excellent overall performance, much to the delight of Chris Willaims, Rob Hicks and Dr. Kelly watching from the sidelines. Dylan Scotcher, Ben Milward, Yori Hicks, Henry Macbeth and Jamie Ebsworth were superb in defence. Amongst the scorers were Harry Cook (2), Dominic Booth and William Swailes (2), while Thomas Harding Jones showed Shane Williams-like skills on the pitch. Harri Williams finished off the move of the day after the ball went through eight pairs of hands, with Yori, Dominic, Max, Ben, Jamie and William all involved before Harri took the ball and ran half the length of the pitch to cross over. Training is on a Thursday on the Astroturf at Tenby from 6 to 7 pm. All are welcome.
