On a beautiful sunny Sunday morning, the Strathmore Hotel sponsored Tenby U11s travelled the long and winding road to Aberaeron. After an early scare in the changing room, with Thomas 'Bigfoot' Sarrionandia not being able to find socks to fit, Tenby took to the field led by 'Pocket rocket' Nathan, captain for the day. Straight from kick-off, Tenby signalled their intent, with Bronzac cutting the ball receiver in half with a full throttle tackle. In early exchanges, Tenby looked over-confident, with the normally disciplined pack day-dreaming at loose play, allowing Aber to steal ball on several occasions. That said, Tenby's defence was very organised, stopping all attacks in their stride. A few 'encouraging' words from the coaches soon concentrated Tenby minds, quickly resulting in Corey and Aled combining to secure a turnover, allowing Oliver to pick up and drive over the line to score the first of the day's tries. Tenby welcomed back hooker Ryan 'Calamity Jane' Hill after an injury and he enjoyed several raids over the gain line. Daniel and Jools again improved in their performances, with each looking more at home within the team than ever. More tries followed, scored by Ellis 'twinkle-toes' Morgan, Kieron 'I wannabe a fly-half Dad!' Machin, Josh 'Linford' Lewis and Aaron, playing at crash centre for the first time as opposed to crash back- row! Final score was Tenby 13 Aberaeron 0. Well done boys! Tenby fielded: Thomas, Ryan, Aled, Oliver, Bronzac, Corey, Daniel, Kieron, Ellis, Josh, Aaron, Nathan and Jools. Thanks to all the parents who gave up their Sunday to let the boys play rugby.
