TENBY SWIFTS U11s 8 tries FISHGUARD 2

Sunday morning saw the in form Swifts face a strong Fishguard side. The first couple of minutes allowed the forwards to introduce themselves to each other. After a strong tackle by Thomas on the halfway line, Aled and Corey drove over the ball to allow Ellis to pick up and jink his way through a series of missed tackles, resulting in the first of his three tries. (Unfortunately dad Graham missed the hat- trick as he was asleep on the sofa all morning! Late night Graham?) Tenby constantly looked to move the ball wide using the pacy centres of Josh (Linford) Lewis and Robert (nose job) Davies. Scrum-half Kieron was always threatening Fishguard from the base of the pack, culminating in two tries for him. Big tackles from Nathan and Daniel proved that hard work in training does pay off, each knocking down the opposition for fun. The back row partnership of Oliver and Bronzac battered the Seagulls' defences. Olly sets himself high standards as a ball carrier and keeps meeting them, running in a powerful number eight's try from the back of the scrum. Elliot Williams on the wing again showed his composure, quite often receiving the ball under pressure, Jonathon Mattick played probably his best ever game for Tenby with powerful, direct running and confident covering tackles. Cain also enjoyed some exciting runs, cutting inside from the wing to link up with his supporting forwards. Final score was 8-2, while special mentions go to the diehard supporters on the sideline, injured hooker Ryan Hill, who will hopefully be back playing soon, and thanks to referee Chrissy Williams. Tenby fielded: Thomas, Corey, Aled, Bronzac, Oliver, Daniel, Kieron, Ellis, Josh, Robert (capt), Nathan, Elliot, Jonathon, Cain. Try scorers: Ellis 3, Kieron 2, Josh 2, Oliver. Anyone in Year 6 who would like to join in the fun, come along to the training on Thursday nights at the Clicketts (6 pm). Next game is home to Whitland this Sunday, February 4. TENBY U7s 9 pts. ST. DAVIDS U7s 2

After only four months of training, Tenby took to the field showing a maturity that more senior teams would be proud of. After receiving the kick-off, good interpassing, support, and excellent open field running brought the first score, setting the trend that was to continue for the rest of the game. Of particular note were the performances of Harri and Max, who repeatedly made, and then utilised the space to run. Perhaps more surprising was the defensive performance. Tenby repeatedly pushed back the St. Davids attack with both organisation and determination. The two scores that were conceded were due to a momentary lapse of concentration, ably exploited by the opposition, and a late consolation. The highlight of the performance was a desperate diving try-saving tackle by Iorri. In conclusion, this was a performance that Tenby should be proud of, and promises much for the future. Tenby fielded: Ben Millward (capt), Andrew, Ben (James), Daniel, Dominic, Gethin, Harri, Harry, Henry, Iorri, Max, Rhys and Thomas.

TENBY U7s 6 pts. FISHGUARD U7s 5

Fishguard proved a much tougher challenge than St. Davids, with able runners and a well organised defence. Tenby were further depleted by winter illness. However, a fine performance from both sides provided a tight but exciting game, with the scores never divided by more than two points. Determined running and tackling saw a tied game at half-time, but Tenby were able to provide the difference via promising support play. Finn and Daniel capitalised on good breaks to score a try apiece, proving that hard work off the ball is an essential part of the game. These two performances promises a bright future for rugby in Tenby. Thursday evening training regularly sees up to 30 players, but new players would still be welcome (5-6 pm, Greenhill Astroturf - school year two). Thanks to our main sponsor, Big Brums, of Pembroke Dock, for a whole set of new kit. Tenby fielded: Henry (capt), Ben, Daniel, Dominic, Finn, Gethin, Harvey, Harry, Iorri, Max, Thomas.
